Thankfully There Is a Logical Answer To Housebreaking My Dog

Post from guest blogger Jordan Hockett.

I barely have enough time for myself, much less the time that is required to take my dogout ten times a day. That is why I really needed to find a way to train the dog to go to the bathroom in a specific area of the back porch. I read on my wild blue high speed internet that they have these training pads that are basically diapers that you lay on the ground for the doggy to potty on. We figured that we would give them a try, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that they did not cost much either.

When the pads came in the mail, we figured that we should put the dog on the back porch to see what would happen. These pads were the ones that supposedly have a scent that attracts dogs to use them for their restroom makings, so we were interested to see if they would live up to the hype. At first whiff, the dog started to get excited. Like he noticed a familiar smell that he was attracted to for some reason. I think that they try to make the pads smell like the lawn, or fresh cut grass. Whatever they sprayed on it, it worked. Our dog goes number one and number two on those pads, and it couldn't be easier to pick up afterward.

Clothing for Dad

Thanks to guest blogger Jennifer Roberts for the guest post.

If you're like me, you want to get your father a great father's day gift. Also, pressed for time and energy, you want to do it online and have it mailed to you or him. We recently signed up for hughesnet in New York because we live upstate in a rural area and need a satellite connection. So, I hop on my computer, with my new my internet connection that I got from one of many satellite internet providers and start surfing.

If you want to buy your father clothing, I particularly like Land's End products for men and women. (www.landsend.com) I have ordered their products in the past and found them to be reasonably priced and high quality. They generally last forever. I have ruined their clothes with bleach or another stain before they have worn out. This year I ordered a polo shirt and a plain tee shirt for my dad. Most of their men's shirts have several categories and color selections. Plus they have your dad's size. My dad lives in Florida, and he usually wears plain white tee shirts. I ordered a plain tee shirt in light blue and the polo in a color that mostly resembles teal blue. This is probably the darkest color you can wear in Florida.

Plus Land's End has a variety of styles, materials, and fits in the polos and tees. They also have a great selection for women, as well. They have a basic tee that starts at about $12.00. If you want shopping to be this easy, then look for a good Satellite Internet Deal like I did.

Avoid Potential Summer Problems

Thanks to my friend Jessica Miller for this guest post.

Summertime is the season for being relaxed and outdoors more than any other season. Even though most of us want to spend as much time enjoying the warmer weather as possible it is a good idea to have some safety rules in place to avoid any potential problems.

Make certain that sunscreen is part of your summer routine. Taking the time to put on sun block will avoid sunburns and the damage that can occur from sun rays. Appropriate clothing is also a must in the summer time. Wear clothing that will breathe well and that is lightweight to avoid overheating. Light, bright colors are good to reflect the sun instead of absorbing it.

Many people become more careless in the summer months about home security and start leaving windows and doors unlocked and open. This is never a good idea and having a home security alarm is always a sure way to be safe anytime of the year.

Always stay hydrated in the warmer weather and keep plenty of water handy for drinking. Water is the best way to quench thirst and stay healthy in extreme heat.

70 And Living Like A Teenager

This is a guest post by Fred Sertig

I celebrated my 72 birthday a few months ago by partaking in a senior iron man race. While I did not win the race, the fact that I finished the race is what I am most proud of. After all I am the same guy that had a heart attack when I was in my 40's. It was that wakeup call that turned me around. I was faced with my own mortality and basically I was told by my doctor I was a walking time bomb and I would die sooner rather than later if I did not take immediate action, which is what I did.

Now it is true that I am a senior in some of the traditional sense. I do have a Hearing Devices and I do live in a senior living facility, but you would not know it by my lifestyle. I decided that I am not going to be a normal senior. I am going to take advantage of all the resources and the technologies that are available to today's seniors. And that is why I use a Miracle Ear. I start my days off with 5 mile runs and I end my days relaxing in a senior spa getting a muscle massage.

But I don't stop with only the massages, I also partake in as many physical activities as I can for seniors such as line dancing, rock climbing, dancing, and eating healthy. As a result of adopting a more active lifestyle I feel younger today than when I did when I was actually a teenager!

Even Durable Enough for Kids

Written by my friend Colleen Berstely

We recently remodeled our kitchen and let me tell you, I swore it was going to be a nightmare. With my fiancĂ© getting ready to attend the Police Academy, guess who got to do most of the work on our kitchen remodel? I mean, aside from his usual thing, you know I can’t really install cabinets and all that.

On the other hand, that meant that I got to do most of the shopping with him out and about throughout the week. I believe in being earth-friendly and will try anything once, so I decided to go with recycled paper countertops. They gave a finished feel to the kitchen with new bamboo cabinets and cork flooring. All of these materials are extremely durable, which works out great because we have two kids under the age of five. I had to think about them every step of the way.

For something different, I chose to do the backsplash of the kitchen in recycled glass tile. I know it’s not conventional, which I also love, but glass tile like this has a lot of colors to choose from. I even let the kids help out; they loved it. In the end, the kitchen turned out beautifully, I got to go to the hardware store without my fiancĂ© who would have spent tons more money and all the materials we chose helped the environment.
